Tempranillo originates from Spain where it is the most widely planted red variety. McLaren Vale provides an ideal region for this variety where the warmth of the day is softened by the cool coastal breezes at night. ‘Sombra’, Spanish for shadow takes its name from Turraparri Creek (Aboriginal Kauna language) which runs through the Tempranillo vineyard block.
